A lot of companies are turning their backs on anything that has to do with the family since consumers are boycotting those that are associated with Trump. Just last week, the trending status, #DeleteUber, soared, which caused the CEO of Uber, Travis Kalanick, to eventually cut his ties with the business council headed by President Trump. The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk, is being pressured to quit the same council but he decided to stay even with the outrage of the public. In recent days, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom have also dropped the brand of Ivanka Trump from all of their stores.
#GrabYourWallet, a campaign that was set up to inform the American people on all the companies that are doing business with the Trumps, is the main reason why Uber, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Tesla see a shift in their sales. The campaign has its own website and it consists of a spreadsheet that is surprisingly highly comprehensive. The spreadsheet contains the number of Trump products that a company has in stock, the exact items that the companies are selling, as well as the customer service hotlines of the companies so that consumers can make their opinions known.
The Trump brand is already losing its power and it is slowly declining in business. The latest blow is the recent decision that Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom made. Both department stores took to the media saying that they have seen a decrease in demand for these products which was why they cut ties with the President’s daughter, Ivanka Trump. Nordstrom is planning to sell the remaining inventory in their stores until the stock run out.
Additionally, most of Ivanka’s items are produced overseas. Just last December, the public realized that most of the blouses and dresses of her fashion line are made in Indonesia, Vietnam, and China. Shipments from outside the country were made by her company at least 193 times. Clearly, this is what her father is against - importation. Donald Trump frequently talks about how Americans need jobs and how US companies must bring back their foreign capital to the country.
The fashion line of Ivanka Trump made a statement just recently regarding the decision of Nordstrom. According to the brand’s spokesperson, they will continue expanding across categories. The fashion line will also expand distribution but with a better, increased customer support. They believe that the brand’s strength is not measured only by its profits, but with the integrity that it maintains.
The spokesperson of Ivanka went on to say that all the women that are behind the brand are representing a diverse team of professionals and that they are all proud when they say that the brand’s principles is the same as the one when it was founded. “The company was established in order to inspire women and to service and celebrate the lives of the American people.
